Thursday July 14 marked the grand opening of “The Vault”, the new downstairs clearance section at Shawville women’s clothing boutique Jolie Folie.

Before the various lockdowns, the owner of Jolie Folie, Melanie Pieschke, was planning to open a clearance section of her store. Now after nearly two years of lockdowns and set-backs, Pieschke and her team were finally able to get to work on completing the downstairs of the shop this spring.

The new space has been named “The Vault”, and according to Pieschke it . . .

allows her to take full advantage of her space. “We’re just maximizing the use of our space. We have a beautiful space that wasn’t utilized so we wanted to just take advantage of it,” said Pieschke.

The new space now allows customers to shop the sales in-person year-round. Prior to the opening, Jolie Folie would have weekend-long trunk sales at Shawville’s Little Red Wagon Winery up to twice a year. However, because these sales would only last the weekend, many people would be unable to make it. Pieschke explained “we stay at the shop, we don’t have to pack up anything, and people are always welcome to come and shop the sales. Because for a weekend not everybody can make it.”

All clearance items continue to be available for purchase online, but unlike before customers are now able to try on the clothes in store before purchasing them, which was another issue they are trying to mediate with the opening of The Vault. Customers that came into the store on opening weekend were offered an extra 20 per cent off all clearance items.

Sarah Murray, Norway Bay cottager and Jolie Folie shopper, walked into the new space and exclaimed “this is exciting!” She continued by saying “I love Mel. I love her store. It’s so much fun. I can’t think of a better thing to do with a bestie on my birthday than come to her sale.”
