The Shawville United Church Valentines Day Tea was a rousing success. It was held this past Saturday, Feb. 3. Congratulations to all the volunteers which made this year event a very tasty one.

Our deepest condolences to the Essiambre family on the loss of Charles on Feb. 1, at the age of 60. He was the father of Carl (Kelly) and Jesse (Siobhan). Charles was the grandfather of Cooper. He was the brother of Michael, Gregory (Cheryl) and the late Pauline.

On Friday, February 2, 2024 Whiarton Willie did not see his shadow which means an early spring.

Happy 35th Wedding Anniversary to my wonderful husband Robert. We will be celebrating on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Municipality of Shawville is hosting its annual Carnival on Saturday, Feb.10, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Shawville Arena.

We have been blessed with unseasonably great weather for the past week.

Travis Burnie, Connie Andrews, Paulette Pelletier and Lynette Burnie have just returned from a one week’s stay in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. They had a wonderful time, enjoyed the beautiful warm sunshine. They made memories to last a life time.

Waltham residents were saddened to hear of the sudden passing of former resident Brian Lacroix. He was the beloved husband of Denyse Laverdure of Pembroke. Our heartfelt, sympathy thoughts and prayers are with Denyse, family and friends at this difficult time.
