Last week I was on summer holidays and I had a fantastic time. My family and I spent a few days at . . .

my aunt and uncle’s camp on the Ottawa River where we enjoyed swimming, kayaking, paddle-boating, fishing and some much needed downtime. The weather was beautiful and I was so grateful to have somewhere safe to go, not far from home, for a get-away during these pandemic days. Big thanks to Aunt Marion and Uncle Eric for sharing their little piece of heaven with us.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Joseph Mankala, as he passed away suddenly on July 21 at the age of 26. I did not know Joe personally but I have heard so many stories and anecdotes from those who did know him, he sounded like a great guy who was loved by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones as they grieve.

Congratulations to Mike Mohr and Jowita Wilk on the birth of their baby girl, Lily-Jane. She arrived on July 24. Wishing the whole family all the best with their sweet little bundle.

Best wishes are also going out to Brittany Ramsay and Brandon Albert on the safe arrival of their baby boy. Decklin John Albert was born on July 26, and shares his birthday with his grandpa Wayne Ramsay. His big sister Ariella is very excited to have him here. Congratulations to all.

I missed so many birthdays being off last week so the list is long this week. Belated birthday wishes are going out to Bryce Hudson and Nancy Villeneuve who celebrated on July 22, to Mary-Sheila Keon on July 30, to Briggs Richardson and Audrey Fraser on July 31, to Andre Côté on Aug. 2, to Kendall Young and Maryon Courrier on Aug. 3 and to Brodee Campbell on Aug. 4.

Happy birthday to Kaylee and Jessica Hamilton on Aug. 6, to Liam Dowe on Aug. 9 and to Ariella Albert and Linda Bernier on Aug. 11. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.

This past Saturday, I stopped by the home of my buddy Sam Woermke to buy some bouquets of his beautiful sunflowers. For the past two Saturdays, Sam was in his stand at the end of his driveway selling his flowers and I heard it was very popular. Way to go Sam.
