The Legions Park was a flurry of activity with the celebration of the annual Community Day in Bryson this past Saturday. Revitalization Bryson did an incredible job organizing the event, which provided something for everyone. Visitors of all ages came out, despite the exceptionally hot weather, and enjoyed various games and activities throughout the day.
Car enthusiasts had the chance to admire classic and vintage vehicles at the car show while faces were transformed into works of art by talented face painters on site. Kids also had a blast playing games and participating in a friendly softball game.
“There was a good turnout of about 35 vintage cars this year,” said Ottawa resident Clark Simmons, his ‘42 black Chevy proudly displayed directly behind him.
The festivities continued into the evening with music performances by Gary and Friends and D.J. Marie-Josie, a fastball game at 7 p.m. drawing in a large crowd, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky.
No community event would be complete without delicious food served hot off the grill at the barbecue, making it a day to remember for all who attended.
By all accounts, Community Day in Bryson was a resounding success and evidence of the strong community spirit to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Bryson.
