Dear Editor,

Funnily enough, MAGA supporters claim that if Canada was to join the USA, Canadians would get to enjoy a higher standard of living. Meanwhile, the American president has repeatedly stated that he wants to make America great again, blaming Canada for America’s economic misfortunes. There are no such statements about making Canada great again being made in Canada by Canadians.

We struggle through difficult economic times, as most people in the world are doing, trying to find solutions that match our social objectives. We seek improvement by peaceful means, by trading, by respecting others. Canada does not have gun violence 10 times greater than the USA rate, Canadians do not go bankrupt when they get medical treatment, and Canada’s literacy rate is higher than America’s.

MAGA people have to read their history books more carefully before they embark on such chaotic actions as their president seems to want to do.
