The eighth annual Lumberjack Dinner was held on Friday, Jan. 24, at the Pontiac Conference Centre in Fort Coulonge. A fundraiser for the Chutes Coulonge Park, the sold-out event attracted over 200 people from both the Pontiac and eastern Ontario.
The crowd of lumberjacks, bushwackers, and descendents thereof, was treated to a hearty meal that included the likes of garlic chicken, cabbage salad, meatloaf, homemade beans, and mashed potatoes, as well as world-class entertainment by Pontiac singer Gail Gavan and fiddler extraordinaire Louis Schryer, and captivating stories on the drive and logging eras by nostalgic lumberjacks.
Event organizer Jane Toller said she hopes the evening served as a reminder of Pontiac’s immense contribution to Canada’s history and development.
All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting operations, activities, and preservation efforts at Chutes Coulonge Park.
