Saturday was for friends and family fun day at the Bryson ballpark.

This event was organised in honour of former Bryson Recreation Association (RA) member Nathalie Lemay who passed away 10 years ago during their annual father’s day baseball tournaments.

The day began with two friendly baseball games played by four Bryson teams. The RA then presented a bench that was made in honour of Lemay to her . . .

family. The bench was created by Megan Tubman and her Pontiac High School welding class, including students Dakota Cameron and Bryson Weidhaas, who are both from Bryson. The bench features three cherry blossoms to represent Lemay’s three children through her favourite flower.

“Quite a while ago, the Bryson RA was fading out and there wasn’t a lot going on for the community and for the children. So a bunch of moms got together and decided to revamp the RA and get it going again and lively again,” Tammy Davis told THE EQUITY. Describing why they felt it was important to honour Lemay, Davis said: “She was one of the very important members. Bryson is also a very close knit community and we’re a close knit group that we’re not just a committee, we’re also friends.”

After the unveiling of the bench, the group played an all ages game of soccer-baseball, and large machinery and sand was brought in by Brian Stanton Co. Ltd for the children to play with.

The Bryson RA is working towards the goals of beautifying the park and netting the baseball diamond.
