The SADC premiered the fourth episode of its annual Farmers of the Pontiac series at their June 17 annual general meeting.

The series aims to promote agriculture within the Pontiac through documentary-style videos that showcase. . .

some of the entrepreneurs and farmers that the SADC works with.

This year’s episode featured Luc Amyotte and Brittany Soucie of Les Serres Paul Amyotte in Mansfield-Et-Pontefract, as well as Martin and Jeff Schultz of Schultz Apiaries in Shawville. The video explores their lives in agriculture and what their farms produce.

“We have a very diverse portfolio in agriculture and entrepreneurs, and we just wanted to showcase how amazing our entrepreneurs are,” said Brittany Morin of the SADC after the event. The video can now be found on the SADC Pontiac YouTube channel.

According to the SADC’s 2020-2021 annual report, the organization issued nearly $760,000 in business loans to 16 entrepreneurs in and around the Pontiac and almost $312,000 through 13 youth loans.  They also issued nearly $1.2 million as part of their regional relief and recovery fund, which aims to help businesses and communities cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Toward the end of the meeting, the SADC announced its plan to move to a new office in Fort-Coulonge, leaving the office in Cambell’s Bay, after24 years.

“It came out of necessity,” said Morin, describing how the organization’s Campbell’s Bay office had gotten quite cramped. “If we’re going back to working in person with clients, we want to make sure we have the room to work with them as best we can.”
