Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Barbara Horner who passed away on June 4. I have fond memories of Mrs. Horner helping us with the music for school concerts at Onslow Elementary . . .
when I was a child. Music was definitely a joy in her life. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Jamie, daughter Moyra, son Grant and all of her loved ones.
Happy birthday to Chelsea Lapierre on June 12. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
On Saturday, our family and members of the community gathered at the cemetery in Norway Bay to honour the life of my uncle, Laurie MacKechnie. Uncle Laurie was so involved in his community in many ways, so it was nice that we were able to gather, outdoors and distanced, to celebrate his life. The Quyon Ladies sang his favourite hymns, while student minister Paul Whynacht led the service with members of Laurie’s family contributing readings, prayers and a eulogy. The Quyon Lions Club were also on hand and Lion Rolly Bernier offered a prayer on their behalf. It was a beautiful send-off for a man who meant very much to this community and to our family.
I hope everyone is surviving the first heatwave of the season. It’s at times like this that I really wish I had a pool. Stay cool, folks.
