Young anglers and hockey pros in training took advantage of Monday’s warm weather, as they descended upon Le Patro’s canal location for all sorts of winter fun.
With professional hockey lessons and a full introduction to ice fishing, these local children were eager to spend their day outdoors.
The day was centred around a fishing derby for the youngsters, but this was no opportunity for them to sit back and relax. The kids were being taught how to prepare their poles, fishing line and, of course, a little patience as they awaited the big one.
While many children were very excited to fish, many were new to doing so during the winter. Most had fished before, with a few catches coming during the summer months.
Some had tales of the catch that got away and were looking forward to getting their chance at a big catch once again.
Meanwhile, others were plenty excited to get some hockey lessons in, spending their time practicing passes and shooting while the river was cleared of snow.
Monday’s activities on the river saw the children have the chance to not only fish and play hockey, but go tobogganing and on a winter hike, too.
