My rose bushes had dead wood and weeds in them, so this spring I cut them to the ground. It was planting season and I don’t know why I did it, but I stuck two Butternut squash seeds in the bare earth where the roses had been. I knew the roses would regrow, but somehow I wanted to see if the squash could hold their own in the battle of growing. And actually, they are. They are sticking out above the roses and stretching out their tentacles. Whether they produce anything remains to be seen but it is kind of exciting to watch. (I lead a quiet life!)

Watching plants fight to grow is interesting. Watching people, who should know better, attack and show a lack of forgiveness is very sad indeed. As I watch, it is helping me to realize how not to do things when trouble presents itself. Even if there is no reconciliation possible, forgiveness is paramount and it will set a person free from guilt, from unhappy feelings and from the desire for revenge. Vengeance is mine, says the Lord and His way will bring about peace for all parties involved. Choose God’s way.
