We were saddened to hear of the passing of Michael James (Jim) Keogh of Pembroke, formerly of St Joseph. He was the beloved husband of Alicia Arena. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Alicia, the Arena and Tallon families and friends at this sad time.

The past week and on Saturday night, we received a significant amount of rain. This is good for crops, gardens, lawns and flowers. It sure would be nice if we could share some of this rain with BC to help extinguish the terrible wildfires.

Summer vacation is in full swing in Waltham and the Pontiac. Many local residents are enjoying the beautiful summer weather. Camping, cottages, the rivers and lakes are all great venues for fun and relaxation.
Areas such as the Ottawa and Black Rivers have become popular with residents and visitors. With this year’s increase in summer vacationing comes added safety issues. In particular the Black River Road (chemin Rivere Noire) has experienced an increase in traffic.
This rural road is very narrow in sections that pass between the mountain and the river bank. Motorist need to be aware of these narrow areas and sharp curves in the road. Motorists are being urged keep their speed down to a safe level for everyone’s safety. Safe summer fun is the best fun for everyone!
