It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear uncle Leo Spence of L’Isle -Aux-Allumettes, Que. He was the beloved husband of the late (Mary Hymes). He was the last living sibling of my mother’s family. Uncle Leo and aunt Mary had moved to St. Andrew’s West, near Cornwall, Ont. years ago for employment. Our families were very close. He would always say, “We are going up home for the weekend.” His heart lead him back to retire on the island. He always kept going despite the tragic loss of his two children Brenda and Patrick. I will miss his Irish wit, laughter and kindness. He loved a good game of euchre. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Shirley, Danny, Donna and family. May you rest in peace Uncle Leo.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of David Marcus, of Pembroke, Ont. He was the beloved husband of Peggy. Dave was Larry’s supervisor at the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Peggy, family and friends.

Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Fr. Tim Moyle in the recent passing of his cousin Leonard (Lennie) Moyle.

Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Barbara Gagnon, family and friends of Chichester, Que. in the recent passing of her beloved husband David.

Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the Donlan family in the recent passing of Helen Donlan (nee Mercier). She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Donlan.

Wow, that was quite the snowfall we received on Wednesday night and Thursday. It took Larry six hours to clear our driveway and yard. At least we did not get the rain that they got down by the seaway area.

On Saturday evening, Charlie Ethier held his annual fish fry in his garage. Several family and friends from Waltham and the area gathered to socialize, reminisce and enjoy a snack of fish.

Anniversary wishes are extended to Diane and Earl McKnight who celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary today. May you share many more years of God’s richest blessings of love, peace and joy.

Warm birthday wishes are extended to Laurina Dempsey who is celebrating her birthday on March 7. Enjoy your special day Laurina.

The school children in the Pontiac are on their March break this week. I sure hope that students, teachers, custodians and bus drivers are enjoying some R&R.
