The yearly maple syrup harvest is well under way in Waltham, and in much of the Pontiac. The on again and off again of the maple trees has been a challenge for the ever-determined maple syrup makers.

This past week has been fairly rewarding, with the sap filling the cans at a steady pace. As warmer temperatures arrive, this year’s maple syrup operations will conclude as the maple trees send all available sap to the budding maple leaves. And the traditional maple syrup making will conclude for another year.

On Saturday evening, we celebrated Rhonda’s birthday at L’Ancienne Banque in Chapeau. We all enjoyed a tasty meal and a lovely birthday cake.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of my dear cousin Iris (nee Merpaw), of Cornwall. She was the beloved wife of the late Charlie Beaudettte. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.

Sheila Bissonnette of Pembroke, is celebrating a birthday on Apr. 12. We hope that you have a lovely birthday Sheila.

My dear friend Pauline Pilon, of Shawville is celebrating a birthday on Apr. 14. We hope you enjoy your special day Pauline.
