A few weeks ago, I had a special visitor from Victoria, B.C. It was Lorraine Lowe Newton and her sister Elaine McCagg from Bryson. They visited for a few hours but then they had to leave. They promised they’d come back to have lunch and maybe go partridge hunting. I told them that I knew a few good places around Vinton where I always see partridge so they said they’d be back in a few days.
On Sunday, I heard a thump or what sounded like a picture falling off the wall. I looked all over the house to see what fell but I couldn’t see anything out of place. The next morning I looked outside my bathroom window and there was a partridge laying dead on the patio. So, that’s what the strange noise was.
The girls came over the next day and we drove all the back roads but didn’t see any but we could hear them in the bush beating their wings or whatever they do to make those sounds. Needless to say we didn’t get anything but we had a great time together.
This past weekend I had Sharon Crawford and Vickie Crawford come to play a few games of cards and have supper. We played 31 and I must have had a horseshoe nearby because I won every game. Vickie had to work the next morning so she went home but Sharon and Luna stayed overnight. I was happy to have company. The time gets long when you’re by yourself.
I would like to wish the following people a very happy birthday: Charlene Lance on Oct. 22, Charlotte Sloan and Nancy Larivière on Oct. 23, Charles Heaphy on Oct. 24 and Mark Horner on Oct. 25.
Happy anniversary to Vanessa and Jason Hewitson on Oct. 20.
I have a large variety of cake molds and chocolate molds for sale. I can sell separately but will make you a great deal if you take it all. I’ve also got a lot of apple and pumpkin pies, lasagna, shepherd’s pie and stew to sell. I’ll be moving soon and I’m downsizing. Watch next week’s EQUITY for articles for sale because I’ll have a more detailed list.
