So, this is my last week in Quebec. I’m staying at Sharon Crawford’s this week. She will be taking me to my cousin, Freda Dupuis’ in Metcalfe, Ont. on Saturday. I will visit there until my flight on Dec. 6.
Shelly and Carl were up . . .
again this weekend to celebrate Cindy Normandeau’s 50th birthday and one more goodbye to me. It was hard on them coming down without being able to go to the house in Vinton. Shelly said it felt strange. I drove past the house the other day and it was bittersweet. It seems strange seeing other cars in the yard and not going in.
It’s a new chapter in my life and I’m both excited and scared. A lot of people are asking me if I’ll keep writing my column and I will if The Equity wants a B.C. correspondent. Meanwhile, I think we need a new one for Vinton. I can think of a few people who would be great at it. I’d still like to read up on the goings on in the area. This will always be home to me. I will miss you all.
The Shawville Santa Clause parade was held on Saturday at 3 p.m. It was not as big as most years but they put on a great parade none the less with horses, trucks, four wheelers, decorated floats and of course Santa. It was a sunny but cool day. Thank you to all the participants.
I’m going to have a busy week. I have to sell my truck, change my address, cancel insurances, get medications, close my bank account, visit my mom’s grave, say good bye to different people, repack my suitcases, party, party and more party. I’ll be pooped out before I get to my sister’s where I know there will more celebrating. It’s going to be a busy month.
