I want to send out a big congratulations to Pat Mahoney who hit a hole in one at the Mickey Creek Golf Course last week. Some thing that every golfer dreams of but rarely gets.

Well, we finally . . .

got rain in Vinton on Sunday but we didn’t get all that much and thank God we didn’t get the tornado that they were predicting. I haven’t even had to mow my lawn in three weeks because it is so dry.

This heat has been hard on the crops and hard on the gardens and hard on people in general. It is so hard to work in this heat and when you do work it’s in very slow motion, at least for me.

I am still working on my house and I figure I still have another two weeks of painting and cleaning and purging to get it back in order. It is taking on a big transition and it’s starting to look really, really good.

I’ve been eating beans for two weeks and now corn. I’m in heaven. There is nothing like home grown, freshly picked produce to satisfy the palate.
