Winter finally came over the last few weeks with all the snow and cooler weather. I see that the snowmobilers are finally having their day on the trail and are able to use their sleds.

I would like to send out my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Andy Narlock who passed away on Feb. 25. If you ever met Andy you would always remember him because he had a very unique personality. He is going to . . .

join his brother Dave in the happy hunting ground.

My condolences to the family and friends of Dillon Kelly who passed away on Feb. 25.

I see that Johnny K’s, also known as Atkinsons Bar is up for sale. All good things must come to an end or maybe a new beginning. Time will tell.

I was talking to my sister Norma in BC yesterday and she told me about the adventure she had going ice fishing on Sunday with her friends. Norma always takes a sleigh out to the lake to bring all her equipment in. So she dug her hole with her ice auger and began fishing and fished for quite a while but it was a bad day and she didn’t get anything. So she took a little break. It was quite windy that day and they saw someone’s tent blowing down the lake. Just as they were watching that tent blow away Norma noticed the wind catching her sled and flipping it upside down. It took a second to realize that it flipped over the hole. She also started thinking that her wallet which also had her cell phone in it, was there so she pounced over and was able to retrieve her wallet. She told me the only reason it didn’t go all the way through the hole was because it was so windy that it had blown snow into the hole and that little bit of snow kept her wallet up and gave her enough time to retrieve it. Everything was wet but she pulled her phone out of the case dried it off with her scarf and put it against her body to try and warm it up and dry it off. That worked and she saved the day but decided to pack it in for the day. She was more than thankful that she saved her phone and all her credentials in her wallet.

Funny how it takes a near tragedy to make you think about things. As soon as Norma got home she went to her computer and her fax machine and photocopied everything that was in her wallet and she downloaded all her information off her phone onto her computer. Then she placed it all in the safe.

So, I thought I better do the same thing because one never knows what will happen to our phones or wallets and at my age you can’t remember anything. It’s really good to have a copy of everything in your safe.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Linda Romain and Jodie Frost on March 4, Mason Pepin, Karen Quinn, and Paul Haldeman on March 5, Connie Belland and Wayne Corriveau on March 6, Linda Belland Lamaire on March 7, Eric Bertrand on March 8, Pat Kavanagh and Marie Pilon on March 9.

March came in like a lamb basically so will it go out like a lion? March 1 was actually very nice in the morning but then a snow squall in the afternoon made it kind of dicey. I’m quite sure we’re going to have still a lot of snow and turbulent weather up ahead.
