Upper Pontiac man arrested for drug trafficking

Police seized a large quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine tablets, as well as a hydraulic press and several firearms in raids carried out in Ottawa, Gatineau and Chapeau on Thursday morning.

raid carried out by the Sûreté du Québec in conjunction with the Ottawa and Gatineau police forces on Jan. 16.

Police from the SQ executed a warrant on the 500 block of River Road in Chapeau on Thursday morning, at the same time as their partner forces were raiding several properties in Ottawa and Gatineau. The searches turned up cocaine, methamphetamine tablets and cannabis, as well as two military-style rifles, a shotgun and a handgun. Police also seized a hydraulic press, scales and packaging material and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A 39-year-old man from Gatineau and Chapeau was arrested and faces numerous firearms charges as wells as drug trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime. Three Ottawa residents were also arrested in the bust and charged with various drug trafficking offences.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and could result in more arrests.
