Since THE EQUITY published its story on the benefit for the Hodgins and Cockerell families last week, the organizers have tallied the final numbers and reported the event, which included a raffle and pie auction, raised over $9,000.

Shawn and Patricia Rutledge organized the benefit party to help support the families, and Karissa Rutledge helped to organize the event and manage the Facebook page.

“The turn out was amazing,” Patricia wrote in a note to THE EQUITY. “ So many people came to show their support.”

Raffle items were donated by local businesses and Shawn Rutledge, with the help of Connor Brown, built a firepit to be raffled off.

Raffle tickets raised $1,850, and the pie auction organized by Karissa Rutledge and Stacey Howard raised an additional $890, bringing the total raised to over $9,000. This does not include private donations made directly to the family.
