After almost four months, the body of Robert Chartrand of Chapeau was found on Friday. A sad day but finally closure for the family.

Last week, Frank and Janet Retty had a fire at their farm that got out of control. They were both working in the field next to their home and buildings when the bailer started burning. They were very lucky to have the quick response of neighbours and Pontiac Ouest Fire Services, otherwise everything would have been lost.

Congratulations to Nancy Tallon Vellenga for 35 years of service with the Peel Regional Police force. As you and Ron are nearing retirement we hope to see more of you in Sheenboro.

July 15, 1984 was a very sad day for the small community of Nichabau as a tornado left a path of destruction in its wake, damaging many homes and the Holy Spirit Church beyond repair. Although a new church was built, it too had to close in 2003, leaving the cemetery unacknowledged. A committee has been formed and are currently fundraising to replace the old fence and gate to compliment the two beautiful fixtures that are presently in the cemetery: a large black steel cross at the back and another steel replica of the front of the Holy Spirit church with its bell. Both were donated. The cost of the project is approximately $20,000. Donations can be made on-line through Canada Helps for which a tax receipt will be issued by Canada Helps. Donations are also being accepted by cheque payable to St. Alphonsus Parish (Nichabau Cemetery Project). It will be very nice and well deserving to our forefathers when completed.

Just a reminder tickets for The Residence Meilleur 50/50 monthly draw are on sale now. Draw will take place on July 2.
