Christine Marcotte Moncion on Sept. 4 and to Amanda Sullivan and Donna Sullivan on Sept. 5.
We would also like to welcome some newcomers to Sheenboro: Brent and Erin Robinson of Westmeath, Ont. and Casey McCann and his wife Lise Raymond of Lake Kipewa, Que. Casey and Lise purchased a farm on Mountain Road a few years ago and are very busy with renovations and deciding what will grow best on their farm.
Fish Research — On Sunday, Glenn Magill and Joann McCann, Riverwatchers, helped to conduct research on the fish species in the Ottawa River. The Ottawa Riverkeeper, along with a researcher, Bettina Thalinger from the University of Guelph, collected 46 water samples on our part of the river and where creeks flow into the river to be used in eDNA (Environmental DNA) analysis to characterize the fish communities found in the Ottawa River. According to Bettina there are 85 species of fish in the Ottawa River.
Sheenboro Nature Preserve, volunteers needed: We are working on Sept. 10 and 11 installing the outhouse, sign and posts and need help. If you can help, call Joann McCann at 819-689-2229 or email at jpmccann@rogers.com
Just a reminder to those using the transfer site in Sheenboro. A composter is on site for your use. Compost put in the garbage bin attracts birds and animals. They pull the garbage out of the bin making a mess everywhere. When compost is put in the composter there is no cost but when it is added to the garbage bin it is very costly to the taxpayers. Garbage coming from another community is also an added cost. The estimated garbage per household would be one bag per week making it high because most municipalities have one bag every two weeks. Controlling what goes in your garbage bag will help reduce taxes.
