Our deepest sympathies to the Quinsey family on the loss of John on Nov. 19 in Pontiac Community Hospital at the age of 84. John is survived by Marilyn Plouffe. John was the father of John Quinsey, Jr. and stepfather to Rhonda Sharpe Morrison (Peter). He was the grandfather to Cameron Morrison and Samantha and Lauren Quinsey.

Veterans Park on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. Due to COVID-19 masks and preventative measures will be in place. Please note that due to the pandemic the hot chocolate will not be served that evening as is the custom. Carolling down Main Street will unfortunately not take place this year.
The Christmas Parade in Shawville will take place on Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. Please note that a mask and physical distancing is required to keep everyone safe. There will be no treats thrown from the floats this year.
Advent is the season of the liturgical year observed in most denominations as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming. Advent is the beginning of the liturgical year in Western Christianity.
Nov. 29 is the first Sunday of Advent for 2020. This Sunday’s theme is Hope. The prophet Isaiah leaves no doubt in our mind that God is with us, and that He, like “the potter,” is molding and for forming us, if we let Him. Let us make Advent 2020 not a time of regret and “if only I had”, but of blessing.
