A recall was issued last week for an animal product sold by the Abattoir les Viandes du Pontiac.

The province’s ministry of agriculture (MAPAQ), in collaboration with the abattoir, published a warning for the public not to consume ruminant stomachs purchased at the abattoir prior to and on Mar. 15. The product is sold in a transparent plastic bag

The warning declared the product to be unfit for human consumption, and noted that even if the product did not display any signs of spoilage, consuming it would be a health risk.

The statement also said the recall had been issued as a precautionary measure, and that no cases of illness caused by consumption of this product had been reported to MAPAQ at the time the recall was issued.
