The director general of the Municipality of Pontiac and the economic development director of the MRC Pontiac both announced they will be resigning their positions.
Pierre Said, director general of the Municipality of Pontiac resigned effective Friday. He will be replaced by. . .
Mario Allen, who will be the acting director general on an interim basis for four months.
Allen already holds the position of Director of Public Works and does some temporary duties of the director of the MoP fire department while the current director, Kevin Mansey, is on sick leave.
Allen explained that he has already filled in for the outgoing director general whenever M. Said was unavailable, which is why he’s filling in as acting director now.
Allen is the brother of MoP municipal councillor Chantel Allen, who recused herself from discussions of his appointment, according to Mayor Roger Larose.
It is unclear why Pierre Said departed from the post, though Mayor Larose said it was not unexpected.
In the MRC Pontaic, Economic Development Director Cyndy Phillips will be resigning her position, effective May 27.
Her resignation is a personal decision, according to a press release announcing her departure.
“I am forever grateful not only for the privilege of working for the MRC Pontiac, but for having had the opportunity to put in place programs and plans that will have enormous impacts on the territory and the lives of our residents,” said Phillips in the press release. “As a resident and parent of the next generation of Pontiacers, I take this opportunity to recognize the incredible talent and hard work of all our employees, not only in the economic development department but in all the departments that serve our territory with pride and professionalism. The future of the Pontiac is bright.”
Both the warden and the director general of the MRC Pontiac praised Phillips’ work in the release.
“The tenure of Ms. Cyndy Phillips within the MRC of Pontiac has been remarkable,” said Director General of MRC Pontiac Bernard Roy. “Under her initiative, the economic development team has grown in breadth and depth over the over the last two years. Ms. Phillips leaves a competent team fully able to meet the future development challenges of the Pontiac.”
“It has been a beautiful experience working with Cyndy Phillips, and her departure is a great loss for the MRC Pontiac,” said Warden Jane Toller. “Cyndy has renewed our economic development department resulting in a strong team to move forward. We are so grateful for all the work that she accomplished at the MRC, and how she persevered in accomplishing numerous projects at the same time. Cyndy has been a real asset to us and I know that her heart is in the Pontiac. I wish her a lot of success with her future endeavors.’’
The MRC says it is currently in the process of finding a replacement for Phillips, according to the press release.
