Our deepest sympathies to the family of Urban Curley who passed away peacefully, at home in Quyon, on Oct. 8 in his 100th year. I understand that the day before he passed away he was out in the field at his son’s farm driving the tractor.  What a bittersweet but beautiful end to a long life well lived.  All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Curley family at this sad time.

On Oct. 8, our family gathered at the Norway Bay Cemetery to lay my aunt, Brenda Young, to rest, as well as to bury the ashes of Uncle Garry at the same time.  Aunt Brenda passed away in July of 2020 but because of pandemic restrictions, the family waited until now to say a proper farewell.  While our hearts were heavy with sadness, it was also so good to be around family members and friends after many months of being kept apart.  The graveside service was led by the Quyon Pastoral Charge student minister, Paul Whynacht. Readings were shared by granddaughters Tiffany, Tessa, and Tianna Young and a beautiful eulogy was delivered by Patti Davis. It was a perfect send off to a wonderful couple whom we miss dearly.

I received a message from Rose Hamilton to share that she and members of her family gathered at the Clarendon Street Café in Quyon on October eighth following the internment of her brother Clifford Leach.  Rose and her family appreciated the excellent food and service they received. They very much enjoyed their visit.

I hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend.  We gathered on Saturday at my sister and brother-in-law’s at the foot of the Gatineau Hills in Chelsea for a delicious turkey dinner.  After staying apart last year because of the pandemic, we were all very thankful to be around the table together again this year.  We have so much to be grateful for.

Happy birthday to Sandra McCann who is celebrating today.

Our whole family sends big birthday wishes to my nephew, Caden Provost who is celebrating his sweet 16 on Oct. 14. We also have birthday wishes going out to Ben Duquette, Dale MacKechnie and Mitchel Trudeau who are all also celebrating on Oct. 14.  Happy birthday to Luna Watson on Oct. 16 and to Henry Timpson on Oct. 17.  Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.

This coming Saturday is the return of the Quyon Lionettes Car Rally and we can’t wait to be out on the back roads searching for clues and having fun again.  Looking forward to seeing everyone out and may the best team win.
