I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween weekend. I certainly enjoyed watching scary movies and enjoying some treats. I hear it was a terrific party at the Community Centre on Saturday night. A big thank you goes out to Derek Hickey and his family and friends for organizing this event for our community.
Thankfully the weather cleared up in time for the trick-or-treaters on Sunday evening. I had a wonderful time handing out treats with my mom on Stanton Road. It was so nice to see the kids out enjoying the fun and sporting their awesome costumes. They all looked fabulous.
On Friday evening, the Cinema Cimetière held a spook screening of The Exorcist outdoors. This is at the old Anglican Church in Quyon, where they show the movie outside on the side of the church right near the cemetery. It was such a perfectly creepy idea for Halloween weekend. I believe this is the second movie they have shown in recent months and while I have missed both events, I do look forward to the experience in the future. I hear all who went were thrilled with the evening and Donna Kennedy finally got over her long-standing fear of the film. Way to go Donna. Kudos to the folks who now own the church for hosting this event.
Very special anniversary wishes are going out to Don and Ruby McColgan who are celebrating 50 years of marriage on Nov. 6. What a milestone. Congratulations Don and Ruby.
I’d like to wish my uncle Elson Schock a very happy 75th birthday on Nov. 3. Birthday wishes are also going out to Laura Stewart and Chris MacKechnie who both also celebrate on Nov. 3. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
We have a big weekend coming up in this area. The deer hunt starts on Saturday morning, our clocks will fall back that night and then the municipal elections will be held on Sunday. There is so much going on in one weekend. Good luck to all of the hunters for this season. Good luck also goes out the candidates running in the election as well.
