Our deepest sympathies to the family of Muriel Young who passed away on July 16 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Prayers of comfort are with her loved ones at this sad time.

On Sunday, the decoration service was held at Mohr Cemetery. A memorial service followed in honour of Erwin Mohr, who passed away in February. Family and friends gathered afterwards at Armohr Farms in Bristol to celebrate Erwin’s life, sharing stories and memories. I hear it was a beautiful day in Erwin’s memory.

It was nice to see the Quyon Flyers back on the ball diamond this weekend. They played in the Shawville RA Fastball Showcase and went undefeated. They played a double-header on Friday night, winning their games against the Micksburg Twins and the Kingston Axemen. Then on Saturday afternoon, they defeated the Napanee U19 Express, and Saturday night they beat the Quebec Canada Games. My mom and I went up Saturday afternoon to watch the game against Napanee. It was so nice to be at the ball park, seeing friendly faces and enjoying watching ball again. Kudos to all involved in making the weekend showcase happen.

The Quyon Flyers are not participating in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League this year, so there is no fastball being played on the diamond in Quyon this summer. However, there is great men’s fastpitch happening in the Shawville league with games scheduled usually on Sunday evenings.

Birthday wishes are going out to Bryce Hudson on July 22, to Brenda Clarke on July 24, to Shelley Welburn on July 25 and to Grace Hamilton on July 26. Big first birthday wishes are going out to Decklin Albert, and also wishes to his grandpa Wayne Ramsay as they share their day on July 26. Happy birthday to Ryder Côté, Josee Simard-Prest and Curtis Young, all on July 27. Best wishes to all celebrating this week.
