Congratulations to Heather (Smith) and Pat Younge on the birth of their baby girl, Ivy Rose. She arrived a month early on March 22 and both mom and baby are doing well. Best wishes to the whole family as they welcome their sweet little girl.

March came in like a lamb, so of course it had to go out like a lion with another blast of winter weather this past weekend. Thankfully many folks braved the snow to come out on Saturday to Quyon United Church for the Spring Craft and Vendor Show hosted by the Quyon UCW. The basement of the church was filled with beautiful displays with everything from children’s books to jewelry, from candles to clothing, from cookies to soaps and spices. There was something for everyone and many shoppers went home pleased with their purchases. We are grateful to all who came out despite the nasty weather and we hope everyone enjoyed the day.

Kudos to the organizers of the Flying Elbows Hockey Tournament, which was held for the 20th year this past weekend at the arena in Shawville. I hear it was another big success with great hockey games played out all weekend long, including the Ottawa Senators Alumni game that was held Saturday evening. Congratulations to all of the tournament winners.

Belated birthday wishes are going out to Ruby Fraser, as she celebrated her first birthday on March 27. I’d also like to send big birthday wishes out to my buddy Sam Woermke who is turning five today, to my nephew Noah Young, as he turns four on April 4 and to Emma Hobbs, celebrating on April 8. Happy birthday also to Jenna Rainey-Fleck and Tyson Nitshke on April 2 and to Erin Hudson on April 5. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
