Deepest sympathy is extended to Ken Claude and his family on the passing of Isabelle Claude on Sept. 25. Isabelle was loved by many in our community and she will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of her loved ones at this sad time.

Out with the old and in with the new Elvis has left the building. This past Saturday,. . .

our councillor Sue McKay, municipal employee Mitchel Trudeau and several other volunteers worked together to remove Elvis from the big white building on Ferry Road.

I worked for the Quyon Ensemble the summer of 2002 as the student hired to look after the fairgrounds, whipper snipping and picking up garbage, keeping the grounds looking nice. At that time, Jack Graham had procured Elvis but he was still in pieces inside the building. It was some time after that he was put up on the side of the building as a way of highlighting the Quyon Jamfest.  Elvis had become a bit of an iconic landmark for our community but he had seen better days and it was time for him to come down. Big kudos to all who are working hard in our village to improve it, and for the face-lifts being given to the buildings down there. It is looking great and we are very appreciative in the community.

Birthday wishes are going out to Charlene Aubertin and Shelly Campbell who are both celebrating on Oct. 2, to Sharon Hobbs on Oct. 3 and to Joan Foran on Oct. 4. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.

It appears we are now in the thick of the second wave of COVID-19 that we have been warned about for months. Many events that had been planned for the fall are now being cancelled again and the Quebec Government is advising us to avoid all social gatherings again for at least the next month. I hope you are all taking care, following the health protocols for our area, and keeping safe. Let’s all hope the end of this pandemic comes sooner than later as it has been a very trying time.
