A date has been set for the murder trial of the accused, Johan Mitchell Blake MacLennan, to begin its preliminary inquiry hearings.

MacLennan, who has been detained since . . .

the death of Harold Plugowsky of Fort Coulonge, is set to appear from Jan. 10-14, 2022 in the Gatineau Courthouse at 9:30 a.m.

According to one of the two crown prosecutors assigned to the case, Simon Pelletier, the hearings will take place in courtroom 14.

MacLennan, who is also a Fort Coulonge resident, was arrested and charged with first degree murder following the death of Plugowsky, who was 61, on Sept 2. Plugowsky’s body was discovered by Sûreté du Québec on a property on rue Principale in Fort Coulonge and charges were filed against MacLennan following a hearing the next day.

Pelletier is prosecuting the case alongside Stephane Rolland. The lawyers tasked with defending MacLennan in court are Vincent Mendo and Elise Pinsonneault.
