The Pontiac Museum will commemorate fair weekend with an exhibit offering information on the history of the fair.
Charles Wickens, a summer student with the museum said the exhibit will feature whatever history and trivia the archives can provide them with to help show off the fair’s history as well as photos from past years.
The museum will also offer detailed descriptions of what staff consider to be the three most interesting items in the museum. Similarly, each of the museum’s two summer students will have prepared a top 10 list of their favourite artifacts in the museum based on their time in the museum this summer. The museum also expects to offer a bilingual guidebook, which has been in development this summer.
Glen Ansell, the museum curator and member of the Pontiac Historical Society, said he’s excited for fair-goers to visit the museum because staff have learned lots about their collection this summer and will have many new stories to tell.
“We’ve got items from all about the Pontiac,” said Wickens. “It’s all of our history. If you live up here, it’s your history too.”
