The MRC Pontiac and the Pontiac Tourism Association (ATP) are teaming up to form a new tourism advisory committee.
The goal is for the committee to help the MRC’s tourism marketing officer by bringing many different perspectives to the table.
The committee’s mandate is for the next five years and will ensure a closer relationship between the MRC and the tourism sector.
The eight-person committee will be made up of four representatives from the ATP and four from the MRC Pontiac – three of which will be mayors and the fourth will be the MRC’s tourism marketing officer.
The four ATP members will be able to share their knowledge while the MRC mayors will be able to bring their municipal expertise to the table.
Warden Jane Toller said in a press release that MRC staff are excited to get to work with the tourism association to bring economic development opportunities to the region.
The first committee meeting was on Dec. 13.
