Fort Coulonge’s Cafe Downtown was filled Thursday with the sounds of guitar, bass and drums as Maxime de Wilde performed for the first time with backup musicians.

De Wilde was joined on stage by Louis Lafontaine, Dustin Rivet and Willy Rivet in performing songs new and old. De Wilde performed songs from his upcoming album Mauvais Temps, such as “Awkward” and “Les Animaux Les Animaux”.

“I write songs I like to listen to,” said de Wilde. “Sometimes the subjects are a bit dark, but I try to make it fun.”

The event was recorded and streamed online on Tuesday by CHIP FM, but was also attended in person by a number of locals, many of which were familiar to de Wilde.

“It’s incredible, it’s uplifting,” said de Wilde, describing the feeling of performing in front of the crowd. “It feels a bit like family.”

Mauvais Temps is set to release in February, 2022.
