A nine-month police investigation labelled Project New Haven came to fruition on Oct. 20 when search warrants for addresses in Luskville, Gatineau and Ottawa were executed and 16 people were arrested and charged, including two from Luskville.
The joint investigation featured the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, Biker Enforcement Unit and Sûreté du Québec all teaming up to focus on . . .
“high-level supplies and key facilitators” of illegal commodities, according to a release from the OPP.
Luskville residents Lee Marrazzo, 37, and George Glemet, 64, were both arrested, charged and subsequently released. Marrazzo is facing one charge for trafficking a schedule one substance, cocaine, and another for conspiracy to commit a crime.
Meanwhile Glemet is facing one charge for trafficking a schedule one substance, cocaine, one for possession for the purpose of trafficking and a third for possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Both men, as well as the other 14 people arrested in Gatineau and Ottawa, are high-level targets associated with criminal networks around Ontario and Quebec, including the Outlaw motorcycle gang.
The operation notably seized 11.59 kgs of cocaine, 211 lbs of illegal cannabis, 40,000 methamphetamine pills, $227,105, five vehicles, five firearms and a cocaine press in total from the 12 different locations.
According to OPP Spokesperson Bill Dickson, Glemet is scheduled to appear in court in Ottawa on Nov. 4 while Marrazzo is set to appear in Ottawa on Nov. 12.
