Denise Hoekstra, an instructor from the Granite Curling Club in Ottawa, was at the Shawville Curling Club on Dec. 14 to give local players some pointers. Around 15 curlers of all ages and skill levels showed up to brush up on their form. “You watch everybody on TV with those nice long slides and you know what? The majority of people cannot do that,” she said. “I [teach] people to slide and work with what they’ve got.”
