Lana Marie Cowley, owner of Vivir Florecer and Justine Owen owner of Outside. Everyday hosted an Evergreens & Accents Pop-up Sale with a “Build Your Own” Holiday Planters Workshop. Held on Nov. 27 at Norway Bay Public Beach people stopped by to either pick up supplies to make their . . .
own planters or stay for some tips and tricks on how to make the perfect outdoor planter.
The duo met while working on a farm last summer, “we met just for the love of organics and greenery,” said Owen. Cowley with her floral background and Owen with her interior design background has also done planters in before decided their mutual interests can make for a great collaboration.
The premise of this pop-up event came about as they realized folks in the area enjoy making their own platers, but there is a “method to the madness” said Owen and thought they can offer a space where they can provide some tips and tricks.
As they got to talking, Cowley said to Owen, “let’s do a pop-up on the beach.”
What they love most about doing this work is the creativity and also being in nature. Collaborating has allowed them to learn a lot about each other, and learn from each other, also Cowley said, “I think we’ve learned a lot about our friendship.”
Not only is Cowley a florist but she is also on the board of directors for the Bristol market. She said for her it’s about supporting other people doing good work in the community at any chance she gets and highlighting businesses that “we also respect,” she said.
Rest assured if you couldn’t make it out to their pop-up sale, Owen and Cowley are still taking orders for the custom platers and everything they have will also be posted online for purchase. Catch them at the Bristol Market coming up on Dec. 11 and 12.
