The roadwork on Jim’s Lake Road has been delayed until spring after an unusually early snowfall.
The disappointing news was delivered at the MRC council of mayors meeting on Nov. 28.
Work had been progressing on schedule, with half of the stone already spread, when the snow hit.
After the news was delivered, Mansfield et Pontefract Mayor Gilles Dionne requested that the MRC create a contract for ongoing maintenance of the road.
Mansfield et Pontefract currently spends around $24,000 per year to grade the road every other week.
The goal would be for the municipality, MRC and the province to shoulder the costs of maintenance together.
