The Equity

Sunday afternoon was lovely, so I pushed myself to take a walk. Part way, finding it too warm, I stuffed my mitts in my pocket. My favourite mitts. I was almost home before I noticed one of them was missing. Retracing my steps, I found it, soaking in a puddle. What a relief.

Losing something is never pleasant. Not finding it is even worse. I’ve known both, and my mind still recalls and I wonder. In the Bible, Jesus talked about a shepherd who went out searching for a lost sheep. He left 99 others who were safe, to find that one. That kind of caring is deeply comforting. He’s that kind of shepherd. Always searching, everywhere, for anyone who might see themselves in need. He will always answer their call.
