Seven Hydro-Québec employees in the Pontiac have been suspended indefinitely, THE EQUITY learned on Feb. 5.
Hydro-Québec spokesperson Marie-Annick Gariépy confirmed on Thursday that the employees were suspended in connection with “serious breaches.”
“All employees of Hydro-Quebec are required to respect the company’s ethics code and we are taking necessary measures to make sure that it is respected,” she wrote in an emailed statement.
On Feb. 3, MRC Pontiac warden Jane Toller posted on social media that she was “alarmed” upon learning that the local crew had been suspended.
“I am happy that Hydro-Quebec management did their due diligence and have suspended these people,” she wrote.
Gariépy would not confirm the total number of Hydro-Québec employees based in the Pontiac, but said the territory will remain staffed by other Hydro-Québec teams.
She said due to the investigation underway, she cannot confirm when the suspension occurred, nor the reason for the suspension.
THE EQUITY will update this story as we receive more information.
