Pontiac Midget A Lions
On Saturday night, the Midget A Lions hosted the Gatineau Barons. The hometown boys seemed to be focused on their game plan and set out to make it happen. At the drop of the puck, Evan Atkinson, assisted by Hunter Lukacs-Hitz, netted a quick goal to get things rolling.
Play resumed back and forth, up and down the ice, up to the six minute mark when Harry Lukacs-Hitz got his stick on a bouncing puck, made some pretty nifty moves around a couple of the Barons players and added to the score sheet with an unassisted goal, to cheers from the hometown fans.
The Lions were having a great first period with plenty of crisp passing. It was at the eight minute mark that Atkinson was able to net his second and the third goals of the period.

Going in to the second period, you could see the opposing team starting to regain their focus and hit the ice hard. Both teams played an entertaining game. Final result was a tie with three goals apiece. The players want to thank their fans for coming out to cheer them on.
On Sunday, the Lions headed out on a road trip to Maniwaki, Que. The long drive gave the players a chance to think about what they were up against.
At the drop of the puck, Maniwaki got a quick goal. Our boys got their legs and focused on what needed to be accomplished. Halfway into the first period, Nick Curley, with help from Connor Gilpin was able to net a top shelf shot to the tie the game up.
Late in the first period, Evan Atkinson netted a power play goal with help from Harry Lukacs-Hitz. With no more scoring in the game, that proved to be the winning goal for the Lions who skated off the ice with a 2-1 win.
The Lions ended the weekend well. Next weekend boys will be on the road both days with a game on Saturday in Masham and on Sunday in Hull.
