Over the weekend, residents of Mansfield and Fort Coulonge gathered to support the local minor hockey association with a little softball.
The annual Family Ball tournament brought out 16 teams to Amyotte Park in support of the Fort Coulonge Minor Hockey Association. Organizer Richard Morrisette explained that local clans typically compete against each other.
Games started Friday afternoon and continued through the weekend with the finals on Sunday afternoon.

“We raise around $5-$7,000 every year, depending on the weather,” he said.
During the winter months, Morrissette said that roughly 130 children participate in local minor hockey, divided into about 10 teams. The funds raised by the tournament and other activities are used to keep individual player fees down.
He added that during the day on Saturday, there were activities for the younger children to give everyone something to do.
Morrissette was thankful for all the participants, sponsors and 20 some volunteers that kept the games running on time throughout the weekend.
In the B division, Team Morrissette came out on top, winning in the finals 12-10 on Sunday afternoon. In the A division Somewhat Related pulled off the win 10-4.
