Danford Lake once again showed that they know how to throw a party with the annual Winter Carnival they hosted over the weekend.

While, officially, it has always been hosted by the Recreation Association, the community comes out as a whole to make it happen, and this too is always the case.

This year, the welcoming committee at the carnival’s Bethany Hall headquarters consisted of . . .

Alleyn et Cawood mayor Carl Mayer, and he was more than happy to greet attendees with his charm and friendly call out of “Welcome to Danford Lake!”

The carnival was a full day affair from breakfast to midnight, with activities planned throughout the day both at Bethany Hall and at nearby Henry Heeney Memorial Park.

There was a magic show, face-painting, skating, outdoor games, tobogganing, a tractor pull, horse-drawn wagon rides, a euchre tournament, a dart tournament, dancing and, of course, a box auction.

And all of this accompanied by a bottomless canteen of hot chocolate and chili within the warmth of the hall and seemingly numerous hosts and hostesses ensuring you didn’t miss out on the fun.
