Medical sample collection services are coming to the Quyon CLSC (Local Community Services Centres) in May. The decision was announced by Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux de l’Outaouais (CISSSO), the local medical authority, after a petition was launched by locals asking for those services to be made available in Quyon.

The medical sample collection services will be . . .

offered by appointment only on Fridays between 7:45 and 9:30 a.m. The services are expected to be made available on May 6, and residents will be able to book appointments starting on May 2.

The petition asking for collection services was launched because patients at the Quyon CLSC who required services like blood work would need to travel to Shawville in order to get them, which is a problem for those with limited mobility.

CISSSO spokesperson Camille Brochu-Lafrance said that the request from the petition was legitimate, so they aimed to respond quickly by making the services available as soon as possible.

Brochu-Lafrance said that the introduction of lab services would not reduce services at the Quyon CLSC and that CISSSO would evaluate the program once implemented to ensure that the level of services remain in line.

Brochu-Lafrance also mentioned that this is a temporary measure in response to the petition, and they can adjust the hours of the service depending on the demand.

Brochu-Lafrance said that CISSSO will be able to offer a more permanent solution in this fall.
