The Quyon CWL held its monthly meeting the evening of June 12. The previous meeting’s minutes were read, followed by the correspondence and treasurer’s report.
Our annual banquet which was held May 7 at Pine Lodge in Norway Bay was well attended. The guest speaker was Shirley Green, spokesperson for the Palliative Care Unit of the Shawville Hospital. She spoke well of her concerns for the unit and its needs. The Sunday banquet is always an enjoyable afternoon with members and guests and of course, the ending entertainment.

St. Mary’s and St. Edward’s parish children received their First Communion on June 4. A commemorative gift was given to the children by the CWL, a remembrance of the holy occasion.
Other CWL items are: St. John’s The Evangelist in Campbell’s Bay celebrated its 95th anniversary in April. Congratulations to their league members.
The Spring CWL diocese meeting was held in April in Temiscaming, Que., and the Diocese Convention this year was in Arnprior, Ont. in May.
Our deepest sympathy to the family of Father Costello who passed away recently. Father Costello was the former parish priest of St. Mary’s for many years and was much regarded by the parish and the community.
The June meeting was the last one until September. Thank you to all members who generously gave their time this past year toward the continuation of the league and to the community for supporting us in our efforts. Safe summer to all.
