Dear Editor,

So the Liberal Party of Quebec will not participate in an English debate unless all political parties are at the table. Really? Does someone at the PLQ actually think that the Parti Quebecois or the Coalition would get involved in anything English? After a year of the likes of McGill University and vocational colleges being punished for being English,  and silly language police concocting silly excuses for having a silly job, the feeble excuse by the Liberals is somewhat disingenuous, to say the least.

With a new leader that no one knows, you would think that the Liberals would jump at the opportunity for free publicity. That would be smart political strategy. Or if they are looking for a sincere way to strategize, show some concern for the voters – half of the province’s electorate is bilingual or speaks English.

Elections are about communication with the people, not about political vanity. How can I vote for a party that says it supports the English, but will not participate in an English provincial debate?

I hope others will contact their local Liberal MNA or candidate to say they would like the PLQ to participate in a televised debate – in English.
