Congratulations to Nicholas Renaud and Kelly Peterson on the arrival of their first baby, born on Sept. 10. They named her Evelynn Linda, and she is just as sweet as can be. Wishing them all the best with their adorable little bundle.

This past Friday evening, the Pontiac Arena Fund committee hosted a Ladies Night at the Agricultural Hall in Shawville. I was invited to join the Mountainview table, and we had such a fun night. The theme of the evening was Sippin & Salsas, and the girls delivered, bringing out so many creative outfits and accessories. We enjoyed margaritas, a build-your-own taco bar, and a great band that had many of the ladies on the dance floor all night. There were also amazing live and silent auction items to bid on, a 50/50 draw, and so much more. It was a terrific night in support of a great cause. Hats off to the PAF for all of their hard work in organizing the event.

On Saturday, the Quyon Lions Club held their annual ATV run. The day started at the Quyon Legion for registration, where breakfast sandwiches were also served up. It was a beautiful sunny day, just perfect for the ATVs to be out on the trails. Their stops included the Shawville Arena, the Ladysmith Hotel, and the Campbell’s Bay Legion, before returning back to the Legion in Quyon. A pulled pork supper was served, and prizes were handed out. I hope everyone enjoyed the ATV Run, as I know it is always a great success for the Quyon Lions.

On Saturday evening, I joined several friends and family members at Gavan’s Hotel, as The Town Pants were on-stage to help us celebrate Half-way to St. Paddy’s Day. They gave a rousing, lively performance, with everyone enjoying the terrific music. It was a great night which we all enjoyed.

Happy 1st birthday to Hayden Wilkinson, as he celebrated on Sept. 21. Birthday wishes are going out to Rolly Bernier on the 26th, and to Brandon MacKechnie on the 28th. Happy birthday to Mason Howarth and his grandpa Danny Foran, as they share a birthday on the 28th. We also have birthday wishes going out to Briar Armitage on the 29th, and to Patti Davis, Curtis Hudson, and Jill McBane on the 30th. Happy days to all of you celebrating this week.

There was great news announced last week, as the Quyon Family Centre has been searching for help to repair their garage roof for the past few weeks, and they were finally able to secure the services of Boulet Roofing to complete the job. As we all know, the Family Centre has been struggling lately, with a big portion of their funding lost and many fundraising endeavours going on to help them keep going. They celebrated their 30th anniversary of being in this community this week, and we hope they are able to continue for many more years.

In light of the situation with the Family Centre, the UCW of the Quyon Pastoral Charge are currently holding a “Coin it Forward” fundraiser for them. Congregation members are being encouraged to bring any loose change (or bills) to church over the coming weeks to put in the jar. The UCW will then top up the funds to a round number, which will then be donated to the Family Centre. We hope this helps in their continued survival attempts, as they provide such valuable services in the area.

Don’t forget that the Quyon Legion is currently hosting National Legion Week, with a full slate of activities planned. There will be Bingo on the 24th, Appreciation Day and a free barbecue on the 25th, Trivia Night on the 26th, and a Washer Tournament on the 27th. Join in the celebration and get your 2026 membership while you’re at it.
