Pontiac Pride hosted a night of board games at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church community hub, formerly known as the church hall, on Thursday evening. St. Paul’s provided the space, and Pontiac Pride provided everything else.

This is the first joint event hosted by St. Paul’s and Pontiac Pride. The venerable Eric Morin, head of St. Paul’s, was on hand to help things get started.

“What a wonderful initiative by Pontiac Pride and we are delighted to provide a safe space where people can gather,” Morin said. “We are absolutely supportive of them in our community.”

“It’s our first event in quite a while,” said Pontiac Pride member Mitch Gagnon. “We’re happy to get back on track.”

On hand were several committee members actively doling out games, staffing the refreshments counter, acting as DJ and ensuring all participants were welcomed with opportunity to join an ongoing game or start another.

There were ample choices for amusement with a robust collection of board games, puzzle games, word games, card games, dice and more.

All nine tables were busy and there was an air of festivity with ample social overlay. The committee hopes to make evenings like this more frequent moving forward and is aiming to increase its visibility within the community.
