Dear Editor,
It is up to the grass roots in our community to find a worthy warden to lead us.
A worthy candidate for warden is one who supports open plenary sessions with a closed portion only for very specific and clearly-defined private, personal and/or confidential matters.
A worthy candidate is one who has read the Code of Conduct for the warden and will adhere to it and who will commit to having it translated to English so that all citizens can read it.
A worthy candidate is someone ready to start now to review current MRC programmes and projects and come up with plans to streamline committees and suggestions to improve meeting procedures; someone with an understanding of the budget and financial statements; and someone with a commitment to understand the roles of our administrative staff and support them.
Who among us will step forward to support worthy candidates? Who is prepared to share their own experience either in business or as previously elected officials or as directors of boards? Who is willing to join in a committee to support a worthy candidate and continue with their support during the candidate’s term?
We have about eight months to bring interested candidates up to speed.
Most important of all, who is willing to come forth as a candidate, if supported by a knowledgeable group that will continue that support after they are elected?
Anyone interested please contact Pontiac Good Governance Group at email pontiacgg@outlook.com or by private message on the Facebook page titled Pontiac Good Governance.
