Snowflakes and Christmas bulbs hung from the ceiling of the Luskville Community Centre Saturday night as members of the Golden Age Club feasted on a home cooked Christmas dinner.

Nancy Larose has been the president of the Luskville Golden Age Club for the last year and a half. She said that this dinner was an opportunity to bring together members of the community who wouldn’t otherwise have someone with whom to eat dinner.

“It’s so nice to see that everybody’s happy,” Larose said. “A lot of them don’t have family or they have children far away. For them, it’s the only Christmas party they’re going to have.”

Members of the Golden Age Club cooked a holiday dinner with turkey, meat pie, potatoes, vegetables and pie for dessert. After door prizes were awarded, guests took to the dance floor to classic songs performed by Ron Martin and Cindy Agard of Gatineau.

Larose said that a couple of years ago, they opened up membership to the club to anyone over the age of 18, including Larose’s daughter who was also in attendance at the Christmas dinner.

“Some of the younger members were helping us before and now, they also get to enjoy the evening,” Larose said.

Larose said about 90 tickets were sold for the event, and that the money from ticket sales will go towards an all-members trip, funded completely by the club.
